A great place to begin is the Getting Started Guide!
Locked & Deleted Blogs, Email Addresses, and other Account Stuff 1.) I can’t log in to Blogger! If you’re having trouble accessing your account, try our login recovery tool. If that doesn’t do the trick for you, we have a great troubleshooter that’ll help you out.
2.) I can log in to my account, but I can't find my blog. Here's a GREAT place to check. 9 out of 10 times
you're just logging in to the wrong account. The first thing to do is
try different email addresses. Remember, a Google Account doesn't
have to be a Gmail address. Also, if you do have a Gmail address that
is not associated with your Blogger account, make sure to log out of
Gmail before attempting to log into Blogger. If you’re unsure of your passwords or need a hint as to which email address you should be logging in with, try our login recovery tool.
3.) I accidentally deleted my blog! If you got a little trigger happy and accidentally deleted your blog, you can recreate your blog using the same account you originally created it with. If you’re looking to get your original blog back, the Blogger Help Group isn’t the best location to handle this sort of issue, as we need to verify the blog’s ownership. As such, please go here to contact us here. 4.) I accidentally deleted my Google Account and now my blog is gone! Simply head on over to the Google Accounts Help Center and check out their Recovery Tool.
5.) Robots marked my blog as spam! The BEST way to get your blog restored is to click the 'Request Unlock Review' link from your dashboard, which requests a manual review of your blog. We will then check out your blog and clear it if it doesn't violate any of our policies.
If it has been over four business days, and have already submitted a request from your dashboard, and are still marked as spam, you may submit your site for another review here.
6.) How do I change the email or transfer ownership on my blogger account? Since your Blogger account is really your Google Account, you can only change the email on your Google Account. To do this check out this Help article Help article. If you'd like to transfer your blog between two Google Accounts, you could follow these instructions.
Comments and Posting 1.) How do I turn on comments for my blog? There are three things you need to do to enable comments on your blog:
2.) Icons are missing from my post editor! First clear your cache and cookies.
Then notice that there are two different posting modes within Blogger: 'Compose' and 'Edit HTML.' In 'Edit HTML' mode, not all of the formatting icons appear, and this is usually what trips folks up. To fix this, simply click on the "Compose" tab and you should see those missing icons appear again.
3.) How do I make a picture a hyperlink? To make an image into a hyperlink you will need to use the following code:
<a title="Message when someone runs their curser over your picture" href="http://url you want them to go to"><img alt="Message when someone runs their curser over your picture"
src="Link to photograph" border="0"></a>
First upload your picture to a post. Then switch the post editor into Edit HTML mode, and you can see the photo's URL inside an <img>tag. Simply copy that URL into the “link_to_photograph” part of the above code, fill out the rest of the code, and you’re done! 4.) How do I add Audio to my blog? First you will need to
upload the audio file to a free file storage site. Two free media
storage sites are OurMedia.org or Archive.org. Once your audio is
hosted and you have a unique URL for the file, you can use this code
to embed audio:
5.) How do I create a hyperlink? <a href="url">Text
to be displayed</a>
6.) How do I add a favicon to my blog?
Once you have created an icon using Favicon from Pics, save it to your computer. You will need to unzip the favicon to your desktop.
Blogger does not support .ico files, so you will need to upload it to a free file host. To find a free file host enter the keywords “free file host” into your Google search bar, or you can upload your icon to Fileden.com.
Once you have done that, copy the url to your icon.
Next go to your Blogger admin panel and click on the template tab and then on Edit HTML.
Copy and paste the following code into your template.
<link href="http://Your_Favicon_Url" rel="shortcut icon" />
Replace Your_Favicon_Url with the link to where you stored your icon. Place the above code between the <head>and</head> tags of your blog.
Save the template. Now refresh your page and you should see your icon in the corner of your page.
Feeds, Promotion, and Search Indexing
1.) What is my blog's feed URL? There are two options for your blog's URL:
The Settings | Site Feed tab has option that let you choose which parts of your blog will be included in the feed. 2.) How do I promote my blog? There are various ways to promote your blog and here are just a few:
3.) My blog and/or updates aren't showing up in Google's Search results! Indexing search results is not an instantaneous or scheduled process,
so sometimes certain posts may take longer than others to appear in
the search results. So rest assure that nothing is broken and know
that
your posts will eventually get indexed :-)
For a deeper look at Google's Search process, check out this article from the Webmaster's Help Center.
4.) How do I notify people of updates to my blog? We’ve got a few suggestions:
5.) How can I tell how many people have visited my blog? There are a number of sites that offer free services to help you track visits to your blog:
Custom Domains, FTP Publishing, & other URL Issues
1.) How do I setup a Custom Domain? The best and most comprehensive answer lies in this article from our Help Center.
2.) I am getting an error saying, "Another Blog is already hosted at this address" Simply submit your custom domain's URL in this form, and we will clear it for your shortly.
3.) FTP Publishing is not working or is hanging. FTP
problems can be tricky to pin down because there is no easy way to
diagnose problems with third party FTP hosts. Your best bet is to try
again a little later, clear your cache and cookies, and if all else
fails, contact your hosting provider.
More instructions here.
4.) This blog address looks abandoned – can I have the URL? Nope. After a blog is deleted, the subdomain is
reserved for the previous owner of the URL to reclaim if he/she so
chooses. People claim blogs after years without use more often than you would think.
